Courts of India
In 2016, the English edition of “Courts of India – Past to Present” was released, chronicling the rich history of India’s judiciary. Recognizing the importance of making this knowledge accessible to all, the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of India initiated the translation of this monumental work into 13 Indian languages. By 2021, the book had been printed in Assamese, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and Bengali.
Continuing this legacy, Dr Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, took a significant step by getting the book translated into eight more languages: Gujarati, Gurumukhi, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit and Urdu. All these are digitally published keeping in mind the environmental sustainability by eradicating the carbon footprint associated with print publications.
The open access to the digital versions in all 14 languages are made available, ensuring that every Indian can explore the history of our courts in their own language.
